Lucerne - Switzerland
Overlooking the River Reuss, Lucerne, Switzerland. Bridge in the foreground is the Spreuer Bridge, built in 1408. Its name comes from spreu, meaning chaff. Flour millers were allowed to dump their waste into the river from this bridge. Farther up the river is the Jesuit Church of St Francis Cavier. With construction beginning in 1666 it is the first baroque style church built in Switzerland. Note the alps in the background.
