Asahiyama Zoo - Asahikama

Swimming hippopotamus in Asahiyama Zoo, Asahikama, Hokkaido, Japan. They are graceful swimmers. Cages in this zoo have been designed to allow people to come very close to the animals. It is possible to watch polar bears and penguins swim, but unfortunately they were not in swimming mood when I visited.
