Cologne Cathedral

View of Cologne Cathedral from the Museum Ludwig. Construction of the Gothic styled cathedral commenced in 1248. It was finished, as much as any cathedral is truly finished, in 1880. The reasons for the long construction time were varied, sometimes wars, sometimes lack of money or lack of interest. The Museum Ludwig is an art gallery featuring a wide range of works including Picasso, Dali, Warhol and contemporary artists.
