Pieta in Frankfurt Cathedral
The neo-Gothic Pieta, in Frankfurt Cathedral, was created by Casper Weis in 1890. Building of the Catholic church started in 1250 and is dedicated to St. Bartholomew. Strictly speaking it is not a cathedral because it has never been the seat of a bishop. It got the cathedral title because it has been the site of King cornation. Destroyed at the end of World War II it was rebuilt over four years from 1950 until 1953.
