Interlaken - Switzerland
Interlaken is located between Lake Thun and Lake Brienz. A monastery was built there in 1133. The town grew up around the monastery and a mill, which gave the town its name, Aarmühle. From 1800 it started to attract tourists. The name was changed from Aarmühle to Interlaken in 1891. Its growing stature in tourism was interrupted by the First and Second World Wars. In 1955, recovering from World War II, it rebranded itself as a convention and conference center.
