Itsukushima Shrine - Miyajima

Itsukushima Shrine is on the island of Miyajima is approximately 13 kilometer south-west of Hiroshima. It is easily accessed on a day trip from Hiroshima. The shrine and it tori gate are built over water giving the impression, during high tide, that they are floating. In 1996 it was registered as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site.
