One of
Lisbon's main squares since the middle ages, Rossio Square was named after Pedro IV. A column with Pedro IV on top is located in the sqaure's center. In the foreground is the northern fountain. Installed in 1889 it replaced a well that existed since 1897. There is a similar fountain on the sorth side of the park. Park ground is flat, the mounds and valleys are optical illusions.
