Daibutsu - Nara

The Great Buddha (Daibutsu) in the main hall of Todai-ji Temple. The Daibutsu has a height of 14.98 meters with a face of 5.33 meters. Bronze, it was cast over a three year period, finally being completed in 751. It has been re-cast several times for various reasons including earthquake damage.
