Patuxai - Vientiane

Patuxay Victory Monument , Vientiane, Laos
Patuxai, meaning Victory Gate is a war monument built between 1957 and 1968. Resembling the Arc de Triomphe in Paris, it is dedicated to those who fought for independence from France. It has five towers and four gateways. The gateways are orientated in the cardinal directions and the five towers represent the five principles of coexistence amongst the world's nations.
