York Minster - York

York Minster
The York Minister from the York City walls. Building of the Minister was commenced in 1080 by Archbishop Thomas. In 1215 Archbishop de Gray decided that the cathedral would be built in Gothic style and rival Canterbury Cathedral. Finally completed in 1472 it was consecrated and dedicated to Saint Peter. York's walls, dating from the 13th-14th century, were restored in Victorian times.
